Testing Tools Papers
Goal
The ICST Tool Papers Track seeks to bridge the gap between software testing, verification, and validation practitioners and researchers with a goal of improving both the state-of-the-art and the state-of-the-practice. In their submissions, researchers should explain how they deal with the complexity and challenges of transferring research ideas into practice.
Researchers are welcome to submit papers in which they describe how academic research helps tool developers to apply new approaches for solving complex real industry problems.
Novel techniques and tools will be exposed to the Tools Track participants, which will be connected with potential collaborators. This track enables leading researchers and practitioners to discuss how important practical problems can be solved.
Areas
We invite submission that include but that are not limited to the following areas:
- Transfer of academic approaches into open source or commercial tools, reporting lessons learned about this transfer;
- Design and develop of innovative testing tools to be applied in real V&V scenarios;
- Description of strategies and challenges about the effort needed for the adoption of a V&V approach;
- Description of working prototypes about research techniques, reporting any feedback obtained from practitioners and description of the technical challenges in developing them.
- Description of case studies and/or experiments performed by exploiting the tools in certain contexts. Reporting lessons learned and negative results, if any.
Format
All the submitted papers should conform to the two column IEEE conference publication format. Templates for Latex and Word are available at http://www.ieee.org/conferences_events/conferences/publishing/templates.html; use the letter format templates and the “conference” option. The paper should be submitted in the PDF format and must not exceed 8 pages..
Authors of accepted papers will present their work at the ICST conference. We emphasize the contributions of tools rather than the novel algorithmic advances or empirical evaluations. The Testing Tool Papers track will accept tools at several stages of maturity, including promising research prototypes, widely used research tools, and commercial tools.
How to Submit
Submissions will be handled via EasyChair at https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icst2017 and selecting Testing Tools Papers Track
Review Process
Submissions will be reviewed on the basis of:
- The importance of the addressed problem;
- The relevance and significance of any lessons learned during design, implementation, deployment, or adoption of the tool;
- The innovation element of the approach;
- The maturity and adoption level of the tool;
- The presence of lessons learned obtained in case studies or experiments involving the tool.
- The quality of the presentation.
Accepted papers will appear in the conference proceedings and the IEEE digital library.
Award
The best paper will be awarded during the conference.
